His two volumes of essays are among my very favorite books, and his fiction, though I found it aggravating self-indulgent at times, was clearly the product of a virtuosic talent. I've been inspired to go and pick up the books of his I didn't already have - The Girl With Curious Hair and The Broom of the System - because now seems like as good of a time as any. Current events being what they are, his take on the absurdities of contemporary life seem more prescient than ever. David Foster Wallace's death really saddened me.
