… So why haven’t I even seen an iPhone yet?

I thought they sold a ton of these things–why aren’t they all over the place? It’s not like I live in the middle of West Virginia; Washington, D.C. is one of the most sophisticated, well-educated, wealthiest areas in the country. There should be a lot of people with these gizmos wandering around, desperately hoping to impress some strangers with their materialism and fashion sense. But no. I haven’t seen a single iPhone user. That seems sort of strange, considering this was supposed to be an incredibly-successful launch, in which a million people bought one. Is it possible that the only people who bought them were internet-addicted shut-ins* and left-leaning-liberal-media tech reviewers? I’m starting to think so.

I’m not interested in buying one; too expensive, too limited in functionality, too AT&T. I just want to hold one, see how the interface feels, get outraged about the recessed headphone jack, determine whether it’s really a good size, and try out the key-less keyboard.

Well, I’m off to Palo Alto, Apple country. I’ll be there til Friday. If I don’t see an iPhone before I get back, I’m going to get extremely agitated.

* But not the internet-addicted shut-ins I know personally. Mysteriously.
