Who knew that Chef was a Scientologist?
Okay, I’ve set up a group. The general how to play info is here. Or you can click here to create a bracket, and then click here to search for “calamityjake” and join the group. You’ll need an espn login (it’s free), but you can deal with that I’m sure.
Oh, and just for the record, I won my pool last year.
If I opened up a bracket group at ESPN.com or somewhere else, would you be interested in filling out a set of brackets? Let me know and if there’s any interest I will set it up and then spend the entirety of the tournament writing boring posts about how my picks are doing.
Sometimes I look back at old chat logs and read conversations I’ve had with people. Not for any particular reason. Just thought you should know! I also sometimes read old posts I’ve made and find myself very entertained by my writing. Vanity is pretty sweet.
Also, and speaking of vanity, law school finals are in about 6 weeks and so this Friday marks the beginning of the twice-annual beard-growing competition. Some of you may recall the last competition (links one and two)–I’m hoping that this time more people compete. Of course it doesn’t really matter, since I will thrash all comers. Still, it’s more fun to dominate a field of dozens.
If you have thoughts on what kind of ridiculous facial hair I should go for after the competition is over, feel free to let me know in the comments.
Listen guys, I desperately need an mp3 of the theme song from John Basedow‘s Fitness Made Simple commercial. Maybe you’re familiar with it?
Lyrics:
He’s John Basedow,
He’s gonna show you how,
To reach your potential,
And turn your, whole life around!
It’s Fitness Made Simple! (unh-hunh!)
Made for real people! (ooh yeah!)
It’s changing real lives!
So yeah, somebody has got to send me this mp3 (and if I could get it as a ringtone that would be SUPER DUPER). It’s hard to see from just the words, which don’t even rhyme, but it’s amazing. Really really good.
Added bonus link: John Basedow tribute video!
Update: you can listen to the song here, and if anybody has Quicktime Pro I think they can save the file (and email it to me).
Go look at this hilarious Engrish menu right now! It’s hilarious!
Hi, internet!

I’m in Texas! So far I have been having a really good time walking around Austin and seeing beautiful things like the Capitol Dome and scary things like this, but mostly it has been nice hanging out with my friends Fletch and Lauren and meeting Paige, which was awesome. So yeah, good times so far. Tonight we’re going to “let our hair down” and “go out drinking.” It will probably be “somewhat absurd.”
My string of short and insubstantial posts continues. Here is information about what I am doing for the next week:
- I’m going to Denver today (March 5)
- I’m going to Austin on Wednesday (March 8)
That is all.
